Tomatos 101

Over the years, mom and I have struggled with our tomato gardens.  In Spring, we're always so excited to get outside & play in the dirt.  We attempt to out guess Mother Nature!.....hmmmm, that really never works in Oklahoma.  This year, mom took the time to start our plants from seeds.  It was so neat......I bought packages of seeds to donate to the yearly garden and several weeks later I was handed the prettiest little baby tomato plants I'd ever seen.  So, here's where this story is going.....during the planting and giving away of mom's tomato plants, several plants were forgotten about.  When we realized what had happened we both quickly planted and potted these little plants anywhere and in anything available.  The picture you're looking at is one of the forgotten plants!  And believe me when I say "forgotten", it truly has endured being totally ignored! This is where I get to brag on this one, of several,  forgotten tomato plants. I took this picture just a few minutes ago......what a beautiful site, a plate full of sweet juicy tomatoes!  So, here's my new theory about tomato gardening,....grow from seed or purchase your plants, put them in a protected corner of your flower bed, plant in early summer, here and the ground, in a big pot, in a little pot, and water when needed.  The strong will  survive and the weak are gone, like bam....gone!  Yikes, I guess that's why it's really nice to grow from seeds!  (It's cheap!)  Well, that's my updated thoughts on tomatoes, 911, oops, Tomatoes 101!

peace & love to all,
